Suggest Remedy For Tonsillitis

hi, my son is 2 years old and he is suffering his first attack of tonsilltis, with 18,000 twbcs (80%) neutrophils he recieved azithromycin. he is afebrile now but he is snoring badly and mouth breathing! should i change the drug (today is his last dose)? any benifit of oral dexamethasone

Hi welcome to the health care magic

Tonsillitis attacks are usually from gram positive cocci infection that is streptococcus mostly

For these gram positive cocci amoxicillin is good drug so don't worry for that

If tonsillar enlargement more and on examination inflammation is severe then only short term steroid given otherwise don't start steroid

If improvement not noted then throat swab done and send it for culture report...
