Suggest Remedy For Urine Incontinence After Foley Insertion Which Is Perfectly In Place
Hello, I have a friend with advanced ALS. Recently she had a foley (16F) inserted, as for the last week she has been incontinent of urine. Uneventful insertion, clear yellow urine drainage, but waking up in the morning soaked in urine, foley still perfectly in place and balloon still inflated. What to do? A larger catheter size perhaps?
Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your friend has indwelling Foley catheter to drain her bladder and has incontinence of urine.
This is due to involuntary bladder contraction due to irritation of trigone of the bladder which is common due to catheter in bladder,This results into urine leakage by the side of catheter.
Ask her to take urinary antispasmodics like Oxybutinine twice daily.
This will get cured within a week once she gets accustomed to catheter ..
