Hi,

Vomiting after laparoscopic colon surgery can occur due to a variety of reasons such as the anesthesia, the effects of the surgery, or bowel obstruction. Your sister-in-law needs to follow the instructions of her healthcare provider and report any symptoms, including vomiting.

Since your sister-in-law has been experiencing vomiting for several days and has been unable to tolerate oral intake, her healthcare provider may recommend keeping her on a clear liquid diet (such as ice chips, broth, and Jell-O) until her symptoms improve. Once she can tolerate clear liquids without vomiting, she may gradually be advanced to more solid foods.

In addition to a clear liquid diet, some remedies may help with vomiting, such as:
* Anti-nausea medications: Your sister-in-law's healthcare provider may prescribe medications such as ondansetron or promethazine to help relieve nausea and vomiting.
* Ginger: This vegetable has properties of natural anti-inflammation and can soothe the stomach. She may try drinking ginger tea or taking ginger supplements to help alleviate her symptoms.
* Peppermint: Peppermint can also help soothe the stomach and alleviate nausea. She may try drinking peppermint tea or using peppermint essential oil.
* Acupressure: Applying pressure to the wrist using acupressure bands or massaging the pressure point on the wrist may help reduce nausea and vomiting.

Your sister-in-law needs to continue to follow up with her healthcare provider and report any changes in symptoms. If she is unable to tolerate clear liquids or her symptoms worsen, she may need to be re-admitted to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
