Suggest Remedy For Vomiting And Restlessness Post Medication For Extra Pyramidal Syndrome
Hi my 71 years old mother is diagnosed by a neurologist with extra-pyramidal syndrome. He observed hypomimic face, slowness in her behavior. He prescribed her syndopa plus, aricept, daxid, pramipex and aspirin gastro resistant. She took these drugs for two days now and feeling restlessness, muscle pull in her leg, vomiting and loss of appetite. She is also on hypertension drug called amlodipin. Should she stop these drugs or it is normal to have side effects in the beginning of the treatment?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. She has been diagnosed with EPS (Extrapyramidal syndrome) and is given Syndopa Plus, Aricept (Aripiprazole), Daxid (Sertraline), Pramipaxol and Aspirin. Out of these drugs Pramipaxol is known to cause persistent vomiting especially during first 1-2 weeks of therapy. In most individuals to prevent the vomiting and nausea associated with the drug it is advised to start with low doses and then after a week or two doses can be increased. If her vomiting in very distressing then you can call her doctor and ask about reduction of doses of Pramipax if possible. Other option is to wait for some days to see reduction of vomiting. Medicines like Domperidone or Phenargan can help to reduce her nausea and vomiting. Discuss with her doctor for these drugs.
