Suggest Remedy For Weakening Of Legs Post Long Term Usage Of T Eptoin Tablet

Dear Doctor, my uncle met with an accident 22years back and had brain haemorrhage.. And since then he is having seizures and he is on T. Eptoin 100mg 2 tablets before sleep... I m final year BSc nursing student and one of the doctors told me when on eptoin treatment many other supplements should be given such as Vit D , Calcium, Folic acid to prevent the side effects... But my uncle is not getting any of these supplements and his legs are becoming weak day by day... So can you help me what should I do for him? I m really worried because since last 22years he Is getting T.Eptoin continuously... Please do reply

Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the chronic use of Eptoin tablet used for anti-epileptic purpose is associated with number of side effects as:
- Drowsiness
- Headache
- Nervousness
- Palpitation
- Tendon inflammation of limbs
- Soft bones
- Slurred speech
- Lack of energy
- Constipation
- Memory problems
- Others

In my clinic, I do recommend the temporary withdrawal of the medicine with intake of zinc, magnesium, copper, anti oxidants and multi vitamins supplementation.
