Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 12 yr old is having some white discharge in the corner of her eye. She did have a sinus headache so was given a decongestant. No redness in the eye. It did not crust the following morning. I have been putting a wet warm compress on every 30 minutes. She said it itches once in awhile. What else can I do for her? Thank you. YYYY@YYYY
Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter has white eye discharge which is mainly due to inflammatory conditions or allergies or infections of conjunctiva and it could be due to lacrimal duct block. Need not to worry. You need message to open the duct if it si due to blockage of duct. Eye crusty dischage needs fucithalmic eye ointment two times a day for 3-5 days. You should give child antibiotic and anti allergic medications depending on cause. Maintain hygiene of area. Don't touch it with unwashed hands. If problem persists then you should visit ophthalmologist and get it examined and start treatment accordingly. Keep clean handkerchief near her to touch eye area.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
