Suggest Remedy For Yellow Vaginal Discharge With Burning Sensation Post Pap Smear

After my pap smear last week I started having discharge, irritation and burning on my vaginal skin. I bought a monistat 3 and after the first use I am now having yellow discharge. I am not sure what is going on. I have not had sex since before my pap smear. Please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The yellow discharge is probably related to a yeast infection. I suggest to use an anti fungal cream for local application such as Clotrimazole cream. I also suggest using Fluconazole 150 mg one as oral treatment. I recommend to maintain a good hygiene.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
