Suggest Remedy To Clear Blocked Nose
I went to the Dr. Monday and he gave me the Z-pack for upper respiratory infection. Today is Thursday and do not have a sore throat anymore but my nose is constantly running (I am blowing so much) and both nostrils are completely stopped up causing me to breathe thru my mouth. He also said I could take Mucanex D but it does not appear to be unstopping my nose. I have put Vicks around my nose, gargled with warm salty water, and even boiled water and held my head over it with a towel (which only opened it for about 10 min). Any advise, should I call the doctor back and ask for Amoxillian or something else? How can I unstop my nose where I can breathe. I used Afrin last night and it opened me up but I am afraid of getting addictive to it, thanks,

Nasal blockage in spite of taking medicines should be seen by an ENT Surgeon as you have taken proper antibiotic that is Z-pack, Mucinex D and steam inhalation. The persistent blocked nose can be due to hypertrophied turbinates due to inflammation which may need oral or local steroids and anti-inflammatory medicine.
Nasal endoscopy can help to know the cause. CT scan is to confirm the endoscopy findings. Proper medicines will help you to have relief, better to avoid Afrin. If there is preexisting cause like deviated nasal septum or so then you may need surgical correction. Better to follow with ENT Surgeon and follow his advice.
