Suggest Remedy To Cure Disability Of Moving Legs After Accident
Hi Doctor, My father met with accident and he is unable to use his limbs now. Doctors informed that there is a extra bone mass grown from c3 to c6. they performed operation and removed . .Now his hands have slight improvement but his legs has no improvement. can this be cured? if so how?
Dear patient Loss of limb movements of all four limbs occurs due to cervical spine injury with spinal cord trauma. Now recovery from spinal trauma depends on severity of injury to spinal cord. If injury is in form of cord oedema complete recovery is possible. If there is rupture of spinal cord or transection recovery is not expected. This can be clearly explained before surgery by mri report of spine. So if mri was done prior to surgery your operative surgeon would have explained you prognosis. Onother important factor is removal of cord compression by surgery. So if proper decompression of spinal canal was done during surgery also prognosis is improved. Now we have latest option of stem cell therapy which can help in improving even severe cord injury.
