Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife has been having fever for last one month. We found out she is having Typhoid when her blood test was done at the initial stage of her fever.
Doctor gave her antibiotics and asked her to have blood test done after one week and which came negative.
But fever is still there and it's been one month.
Pls advice solution as doctor is saying that generally it doesn't happen like this where blood test report turns in to negative from positive with in one week.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Persistence of fever despite treatment for typhoid suggests presence of some other disease other than typhoid fever. Get a complete hemogram to assess the status of white blood cells. In case blood reports suggest infection, a search has to be made for focus of infection in the body. Consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and relevant investigations. In the meanwhile you can take anti-pyeritics (drugs for fever), good nutrition by taking balanced diet and maintain hydration by taking plenty of fluids.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
