Suggest Remedy To Stop Flu-like Symptoms Due To AIDS

Hello, my name is Jaime. Im 24 years old. I was diagnosed with AIDS one a half years ago. Due to my insurance, I have stopped my HAART treatment three weeks ago. I am trying to get a job to re instate my insurance but no luck yet. Today I woke up very weak, nose bleeding with flu symptoms. I am scared. What can I do in the meantime? Is there a chance that my medication will not work when I continue?

Hello Jaime,
I am sorry to hear about your troubles with your insurance. I would highly recommend seeing someone about your flu-like symptoms since I don't know where your current CD4 counts and viral loads are, there is a chance you have something more serious than a usual respiratory infection. Most states do have a back-up insurance program to help with antiretrovirals, so I would get in contact with your primary care doctor and the social worker in that clinic to explore these programs. There is a chance you have developed resistance to your HIV medications, so I would suggest getting in touch with your primary care doctor right away.
