Suggest Required Treatment For Chronic Acne

What is the best treatment to get rid of cystic acne? I have a cyst that developed 12 years ago. The dermatologist gave me a steroid injection in the cyst but it did not go away. He mentioned plastic surgery? It is about dime sized. I ve heard of people having procedures done without the need for surgery. It is firm but not hard. You can push it in some. He said it had lots of pockets. I m trying to give as much info as possible to better help you understand my situation. I ve had more than one and have realized they have tiny white balls or sacks in them. If removed they heal fine. Any input you have would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic acne which are like cyst which is severest form of acne and it occurs when a pore in your skin gets clogged, usually with debris, bacteria and dead skin cells and causing area to be red and swollen. I would suggest you to exfoliate gently once or twice a day with a salicylic acid-based exfoliant. Apply benzoyl peroxide cream or gel for killing the bacteria in the pore. I You should wash your face using a clindamycin gel with mild soap and lukewarm water. If condition doesn't improve in a week then consult dermatologist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe chemical peeling and laser therapy. You may also go for surgical correction or plastic surgery in case above treatment will not work .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
