Suggest Solutions For Loose Motion In An 18-month-old Infant
My daughter is 18 months old. For last 2 days she is suffering from loose motion, vomiting and occasional fever (just twice in this period). Doctor suggested for Montinorm Drops (3 times a day), Mahacef Dry syrup and Walyte to drink. She is taking the medicine form last night. Her vomiting is reduced to some extent but loose motion continues and she is refusing to take any food except Walyte water. Please suggest.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of loose motion which seems to be due to viral diarrhea. It could be due to could be gastroenteritis/food poisoning and motility disorder. Once it starts it will take around 5-7 days to get better completely. Need not to worry.
I would suggest you to visit pediatrician for physical examination and complete history to assess for child's dehydration status and electrolyte imbalances and stool test if there is need be.
You should focus more on diet. Avoid giving fruit juices as they might aggravate loose motions frequency. Give child probiotics in diet. You can give zinc supplements and ORS solution apart from normal vegetarian soups. Avoid taking sharp, spicy and fried food.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
