Suggest Substitute For Zoryl M 1 Taken For Diabetes
HI, My mom has diabetes and she is taking Zoryl M1 every morning once, as prescribed by the doctor in India. Now she has come to the UK for her holidays and does not have any more left. Can someone please suggest a substitute which can be available in the UK, off the shelf?
Zoryl M1 is an oral hypoglycemic agent containing Glimepiride 1mg and Metformin 500mg. You can check for availability of Amaryl M which has the composition of Glimepiride 1mg and Metformin 500mg as like Zoryl M1.
Metformin is the first line oral hypoglycaemic agent prescribed in diabetic patients. Glimepiride is used along with metformin to decrease the tolerance to Metformin. Diabetic diet also supports the oral hypoglycemic agents to control the blood glucose level. Regular blood glucose monitoring also needed to prevent hypoglycemic episodes. Consult a diabetologist there in UK for further doubts.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
