Suggest Substitutes For Cipro And Metronidazole Prescribed For Diverticulitis
My doctor has prescribed Cipro and Metrodonizale for diverticulitis. Each of these pills are large and I have difficulty swallowing and sometimes choke. The Cipro instructions say not to cut or chew the tablet, why? I cannot keep taken these because I choke so much. What can I do as I need to get this cured? Thank you.
Based on the history you have shared, both of these antibiotics have very good Gut infection coverage so it's better to continue these.
However, if issue is only about chewing or swallowing, you can switch to suspension forms that are readily available. The dose should be according to your weight though and not pediatric dose.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
