Hi Porshe,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern that you are
obese and also have a family history of diseases associated.
Since you are still young, although grossly obese right now, you have a chance to curb down your weight by means of diet, exercise and medication if necessary.
As you are having problems with back and difficulty in breathing while sleeping, you need to practice and adapt to sleeping in lateral position. Once you reduce the weight substantially, you can revert back to normal sleeping position.
Kindly get the following tests done to know about your present status, so that follow up would be easier.
1. Keep a check on
glucose levels by getting tested for fasting glucose, post-prandial glucose and
glycated hemoglobin levels (
HbA1c) once in 3 months.
2. Keep a check on
lipids by getting tested for fasting
lipid profile once in 4 months.
3. Check for
thyroid stats by getting your thyroid profile done now and also once in 6 months.
Kindly get treated appropriately for any abnormalities detected, so that it will help you to reduce weight and maintain good health status.
Hope the information provided is helpful.
All the best.
