Suggest Suitable Therapy For Heart Disease

Hello..My mother received a massive heart atack 2 years back and her angioplasty was done after that...4 stents were inserted and LVEF was around 35%. I went with my mother for regular visit to the cardiologist and he suggested for ECHO..Now ECHO report mentions a LVEF of 30%. Just wanted to consult how can be the after effects of it..and how can we increase the LVEF level..My cardiologist says that there is no way of increasing LVEF by medication.

Hello,

With an LVEF of 30%, which decreased from 35%, she can be classified as heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.

There are yet conflicting results with regards to medications increasing the LVEF, but the goal is to prevent symptoms or cardiac events in her case.

There are certain medications which she basically needs (I presume that she has these medications, including antiplatelet, statins, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors or ARBs), and in addition, spironolactone, as suggested by guidelines.

I would suggest a consult with a doctor for a comprehensive history and physical examination to tailor appropriate medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
