Suggest Surgery Options When Suffering From Disc Prolapse
what are the surgical indications for spinal surgery for patients with disc prolapse? (L4-5 & L5-S1) is leg weakness, chronic pain with posture changes & occasional inability to control urination indications for surgery? & what type of is surgery preferred (laser/open with fixation)?

1) Altered bladder function (inability to control urination)
2) Altered bowel function
3) Progressive neurological deficits such as motor or muscle weakness and sensory changes like loss of touch in the lower extremities
4) Surgery should also be considered in patients with radicular pain that persists after an adequate course of conservative management
You seem to be having the indications for surgery. You can consult a spinal surgeon and both of you can decide if lazer or open fixation would be better. It depends upon the following factors:
1) The level of lumbar spine involved
2) Number of discs involved
3) Individual preferences
4) Convenience or expertise of doctor.
