Suggest Surgical Procedures For Removal Of Preauricular Pit On The Cheek

I have a preauricular pit right in the front of my left cheek. It is infected. The ER said it s staff. What do I do? This is not by my ear like everyone else s that I see online. I saw the dermatologist a few years back & they closed it & did a biopsy. The hole came back & it keeps getting infected. I look terrible. The dermatologist said he s never seen one right in the front of someone s face before because it s usually by the ear. Can I surgically get this removed without having a scar across my whole face?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Since the pre-auricular pit could be due to an underlying sinus tract. In case the sinus tract is infected, surgical removal will be required. Surgical procedure is likely to leave scar on skin which will fade away after some time.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
