Suggest Tests To Detect Pityrosporum Folliculitis And Malassezia
I believe I have pityrosporum folliculitis or Malasseia. I have been treating it as acne but the treatments don t seem to help. I have been on antibiotics on and off for a few years. I have small red spots on my chest and near my hairline which get reddish when scratched or when in war water. I want to know what kind of test can be done to ensure the proper treatment ?

Hello, Thnx to contact us. If I am your treating doctor I would like to advice you that pityrosporum folliculitis is the fungal infection of the skin. Diagnosis is established by the clinical findings mostly. But under woods lamp examination this fungus fluoresce bright yellow to coppery orange/gold colour. If you have anything else to ask please contact me. Thanx. Dr. Arun Tank
