Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My nephew (my husband s uncle) suggested that my husband may have ADD. I have been trying to figure out what I think is odd behavior. He is 56 - never follows through on anything, and does not feel that he needs to work more than part-time. I feel more like his mother and it is ruining our marriage. He is a very caring and supportive partner, but I am always irritated. Is he just a lazy person or is their something wrong? I can t seem to understand how his brain works.
The narrated description of your husband does not sound to be particularly that of attention deficit disorder which is usually presenting with lack of concentration in every assignment or work more likely. Your issue sounds to be more in relation with adjustment disorder with the scenario of family matters rather than pscyhiatric likes and dislikes, his likes and dislikes and solve the issue without involving your nephew or his uncle.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
