Suggest Tests To Diagnose HIV

Hi Doctar, On Saturday Night i had unprotected sex with a pros.Being that period unfortunatly i don t have condom in this period. So i don t force her to do sex without condom & ask her for mastrubate. But for a few second hardly 30-40 sec i insert my penis in her vagina & then get ejactuated outside. And after 2 days (Tuesday) i am suffering with minor fever, little bit pain in neck, minor hedache, swallon throat. So is this possible i get infected from HIV. As per my knowledge if you ejactuate outside the vagina the infection chance are rare & secondly the symptomps could not start within 2-3 days.Pls advise, I am very worried about myself.

Hello and welcome to heakthcaremagic

Without sugar coating my answer, I must say that unprotected genital to genital contact is a risky business and does carry a risk for HIV Or in other words the risk of acquiring HIV is always high with unprotected sex.

Regardless of the symptoms, I would suggest you to get a blood test for HIV e.g Rapid HIV test at 1 month after risky sexual contact (detects antibodies, most of the patients have detectable antibodies by 1 month) OR a HIV combo test at 1 month (detects P24 antigen, as well as antibodies and is thus more sensitive).

If the test comes out to be negative, there is 99.8% chance that you would be HIV negative, but still a repeat test at 90 days (to cover for the window period of HIV) is required to accurately rule out HIV.

The symptoms are flu like and even though the onset of symptoms is too early for it to be related to acute HIV syndrome but that wont preclude testing for HIV.

Regards
