Suggest Tests To Diagnose Misophonia

I believe I have misophonia and my trigger sound is chewing and smacking sounds. Is there a way that I can be less annoyed by these sounds or a way to ignore those sounds completely? My wife does these sounds and she gets angry when I react to those sounds.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Misophonia is a condition in which negative emotions, thoughts, and physical reactions are triggered by specific sounds.

Misophonia is triggered by everyday sounds. It can be someone eating an apple, loud music through a wall or machinery sounds.

So far as diagnosing misophonia is concerned please note that there is no official test for misophonia. You can self test misophonia or proffessionals in audio field may help you diagnose it.

This self-test is not presented as a diagnostic tool or as medical advice, but it does allow for self-assessment. It is also an opportunity to compare one's results with those of other people with misophonia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
