Suggest Tests To Diagnose Valley Fever

Dr. we have spent our Winters in Arizona for the past 8 years. Actually we had a home there for 4 years. My questions is I have been experiencing systems of valley fever. All but the rash part. I have cold chills, fever, coughing, aching in my back area mostly when I have the fever. I am tired a lot of the time. I am a avid walker, love to run 5 K., but lately I have stopped running, but keep walking 3 miles every morning. We live in Missouri. My daughter is a FNP in Arizona and she has told me to get checked out. I always get a cough when we are in Arizona but I just blamed that on the dry weather. What do I tell my Dr. here in Missouri? I think it would be better to go to Az. and have a great FNP, check me out. Its hard to do a phone check.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I suggest you see your doctor or NP as soon as possible. Valley fever is a fungal infection. You can be tested for it and it can be treated if you have it. If it is some other condition then you can be treated for that as well. You really need a physical exam, chest xray and lab work done as soon as possible.
Regards
