Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 61 years old and have been taking losartan tablet, Repace-50, for last 10 years for controlling BP, but my BP has gone up last few weeks to 95-140 levels. I have been asked to double the dose, but two doctors advised to take the tabs in two different ways. Is it better to take Repace-50 two times a day (1-0-1) or take two tabs once in the morning to control BP?
Repace (losartan) is commonly prescribed in the treatment of high blood pressure. Its initial dose is 50 mg to be given once a day preferably at the same time each day to get the most benefit.
The dose can be increased if the blood pressure is not controlled but it has to be taken once daily only. So, take 100 mg of Repace in the morning itself instead of taking 50 mg twice daily.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
