Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had mastectomy for invasive lobular stage II cancer. Oncologist prescribed Arimidex daily with calcium supplement. Dosage was about 2 1200 in a day. I developed what I am sure was hypercalcemia . MD told me to take a tums. How much calcium should I take?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You can take calcium supplements 500 units per day. TUMS is an antacid drug which is actually calcium carbonate. You can continue TUMS no issues. Get a serum calcium level to confirm whether you are really hypercalcemic or not.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks
