Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been prescribed to take one dose of Zentel 400 by my neurologist as the second phase to treat the cysticercus in the brain, what s the best time to take the Zentel, and since i follow a very healthy and active lifestyle, will it effect my daily routine in any way for this period of Zentel?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Adult dosage of zentel(albendazole) for neurocysticercosis depends on weight. Less than 60 kg: 15 mg/kg/day orally in divided doses twice a day with meals Maximum dose: 800 mg/day 60 kg or more: 400 mg orally twice a day with meals Duration of therapy: 8 to 30 days
You should receive appropriate steroid and anticonvulsant therapy as needed.Oral or IV corticosteroids should be considered to prevent cerebral hypertensive episodes during the first week of therapy.
The drug may however have some side effects. But the extent to which these effects will manifest vary with individuals and some people may not have any side effects. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
