Suggest The Type Of Specialist To Consult For Knee Sprain
I am 52 year old female , diagnosed with a knee sprain at an emergency center recently. They prescribed an antiinflametory med and a pain med and advised me to rest and no weight / standing or walking with crutches . They recommended to see an orthopedic surgeon . My X-rays shows degeneration. My question is do I need to see a surgeon or a rheumatologist ?
hi For injury to knee an orthopedic surgeon would be the right choice.True, cartilage degenerative changes are from older arthritis and a event finding during X ray, probably you never got severe symptoms of arthritis manifested, so an ortho would be okay unless you have had arthritic problems manifested in knee and other joints over the past times that a rheumatologist would be needed. Regards,
