Hello, i am a 17 year old male thats been.feeling all these symptoms this past month and im scared for my life !! just a month ago i had one my closest cousins pass away in tragic car accident. She was only 20 years of age. I went to see her at the hospital after that day ive never been the same within a couple weeks i got sick i had already 2 ER visits in one week because i wasnt.feeling right afer the first visit the checked my.blood and coulsnt find anything everything seemed tp.be normal but my eyes blurry after that day and i was getting worried and panicing o felt like.i was goinf to lose my eye sight and that landed me in tge er again. The first the doctor told me its your anxiety and subscribed me lorazapam and my first thought you didnt even check me your just assuming things. But after what he told me.i calmed down and relaxed but my vision was still bad. The following week and follow up.with my primary doctor to take blood test again which i did and he said everything was normal. Subsribed me anpther medication similar to lorazapam but more strong i couls take awhile to kick in the process. So thats what i dis the next 3 weeksbut my eyesight still hast changed. Ive already seen my optmstrist twice and shes not really being a help besides making me worry first she thought i had didiabetes and now ahe thinks i have hiv and i got my blood check twice they couldn find anything ! But now im just getting scared and even more worried.. i met with my physhatrist for the first time yesterday. And getting threapy but i still get worried that i might have something else.
I can understand your concern. You have suffered loss of your cousin and developed symptoms after seeing her body in hospital. Now you have complaints like nervousness, multiple somatic complaints. Such symptoms can occur after a loss and this is called grief reaction but if symptoms become severe in such case there is need for proper treatment. Lorazepam was prescribed to you and it caused slight relief. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine drug and the drug can help to control symptoms of anxiety but it can't treat anxiety. Medicines like SSRIs are commonly used in anxiety. Sertraline, Paroxetine, Fluoxetine etc are commonly used in anxiety and grief reaction. Visit a psychiatrist for treatment.
Behaviour therapy, relaxation exercises etc are also equally efficacious.
Thanks, hope this helps you
