Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am a 36 year old female with ADD (inattentive), I have recently relocated to the UK and have been taking Strattera and concerta for my ADD and escatalipram for depression. I function well on these medications and find them helping my condition. I bought my letter from my previous psychiatrist regarding my medication and have been seen here by a specialist whom has assessed me and allowed me to carry on with my medication. I recently applied for a job and one of the conditions is to complete a post offer health assessment for review by an occupational advisor. I am quite afraid that I will be discriminated against regarding my medication and not be able to continue with the job as one of my medications is a controlled drug. Am I overanalysing on this or can they not offer to continue my employment? My past work history has been good and I am functioning well on this medication.
I want you to know it's just like any other common disease and medication. You just need to relax and take it casual.Your specialist doctor will know this too and hopefully there wont be a problem getting this job.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Zeeshan Akram
