ADHD is a common psychiatric disorder of childhood. He is not responding to medicines and punishment also failed. Conventional drugs in ADHD are stimulants and if they don't show effect non-stimulant medicines like Atomoxetine can be used. The drug is having good efficacy in controlling undesired behaviour. Clonidine, Bupropion have also good results. Some times patients of ADHD need revaluation as they might have symptoms of Bipolar disorder of childhood onset. I would advise you to consult his psychiatrist again for revaluation.
Childhood bipolar disorder usually respond to mood stabilisers like Sodium Vaproate, low dose antipsychotics like risperidone.
