Suggest Treatment For Athlete S Foot And Jock Itch

I ve had a bad reaction to Terbinafine oral 250. Unprecedented severe athletes foot flare up with sores, jock itch rash and itching of the scrotum after 35 days on the pills. This was to treat slight yellowing of the toenails and some scaling. What s the best treatment for the athlete s foot and jock itch? The reactions are far worse than any athlete s foot I ve had before.

Hello,

Athlete's foot is caused by fungal infection. You have left it untreated as now you are having scaling and yellowing of the toenails. You are suggested to take a course of anti-fungals orally (Fluconazole). If it has gone chronic it may take long term treatment.

Fungus thrives in moist warm environment so keep your foot washed, clean and always dry. Sprinkle any anti-fungal powder over the toes. Spray anti-fungal sprays inside your shoes before wearing it.

You can apply clotrimazole cream in the area affected by jock itch rash. Avoid sex for a couple of days while you are being treated. Stay away from addictions if any.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
