Suggest Treatment For BP, Type 2 Diabetes And Panic Attacks For A 45-year-old

Hi my name is Grace I am 45 yrs old .. I have high blood pressure since I was 15 and I was recently diagnosed with type2 diabetes .. I have been having heart palpitations all my life but every once in a blue moon .. lately tho I have been experiencing the palpitations more frequently now and for the 1st time today all day long .. My heart feels like it will beat normal then pause for a second or skip a beat .. because of the frequency I am feeling fatigued, a little light headed and anxious because I have to catch my breath every time. I take my meds as advised by my doctor and I also have panic attacks but I can tell the difference between the two ... I even put a stethoscope on my chest to listen to my heart and sure enough I hear the beat pause for a split second.. I am still having them as I am typing .. I hate to go to the ER for another EKG and jst to be told nothing is wrong ...

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The panic attacks with normal EKG indicate anxiety induced skip heart beats as it affects the sympathetic and parasympathetic tone of the heart conduction pathway. Try to manage the panic attacks with deep breathing exercises, YOGA , meditations and supportive medicines as anxiolytic or else prescribed by your family physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
