Suggest Treatment For Cellulitis

I was diagnosed with cellulitis of the chin and under my chin. Started about 5 days ago and has gotten progressively worse extreme swelling and redness and pain of the left part of chin. Dr. gave an antibiotic shot yesterday afternoon and ordered oral Augmentin . Was awake all night with pain and area very swollen and red. Question--- how long before I will see some relief from symptoms. Thought the shot was supposed to jump start the healing

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Cellulitis is a severe bacterial infection of skin and the underlying soft tissues..
As it is a bacterial infection, it needs to be treated with antibiotics and along with anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to reduce swelling and redness..
In your case as you are given an antibiotic shot along with oral Augmentin you should wait for atleast a week for the symptoms to start improving..
In cae if the redness and swelling worsen you can also be given a steroid shot for reducing inflammation..
Do cool compresses over the swelling..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
