General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I do not see, any of the symptoms, he is having are due to low BP. Then, why he wants to stop BP medicine. Rather these effects can be due to long standing high BP. All, the more he is under treatment with coumadin for DVT/pe as well as under treatment for hypothyroidism. In such a situation, any change in the dosage, any addition or withdrawal of medicines should be strictly under guidance of your doctor.

Otherwise also, if the medicines for BP are to be withdrawn, these can not stopped abruptly, rather may be done gradually in tapering the dose to lower strength taking care of BP readings and effects of lowering dose on other symptoms of body. Abrupt stoppage of BP medicines may give so many problems including rebound hypertension.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
