Suggest Treatment For ED While On Metoprolol And Lisinopril

Hx of HTN and have been prescribed Metoprolol 75mg, Lisinopril 40mg and Chlorthalidone 12.5mg. I have been taking for an extended time and have also been experiencing ED problems which I attribute to the medications. Hello,

Beta-blockers which include Metoprolol were known to cause ED. Since you are hypertensive (and I presume that you do not have any other co-morbidities like heart disease or diabetes), it can be shifted to another drug class which do not cause ED, like calcium channel blockers which include Amlodipine, you may continue your other medications as they do not cause ED.

Once you have shifted your Metoprolol to another antihypertensive, you just need to continue monitoring your blood pressure for dose optimization.

Well, on top of these medications, daily exercise and a diet rich in fibers, low in cholesterol and fats will always be at the side to help control blood pressure and prevent other diseases, and even cut off other medications depending on blood pressure control.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Daryl Derick B. Dizon,
