Suggest Treatment For GERD, Headaches And Nausea

I am worried about my father, we lost my mother after 57 years of marriage, almost a year ago, 1/1/16 exactly. Very suddenly. My father has experienced some stomach issues for quite a while but it seems now, it is a daily occurrence, they have suggested he has GERDS, he also has headaches often. His appetite recently is non existent and he has lost about 20 pounds. He has been seen by a gastroenterologist, who has found nothing major, they have run several tests with nothing to report. But still, my father complains daily about his upset stomach , nausea, or pain. He basically lays on the couch, with the blinds drawn, isolated, when I try to get hi to come to my home, he claims he cannot do anything because of his stomach issues. Which has led to weakness, eating maybe a bowl of soup a day, which he says he is forcing down. I think he has legitimate stomach issues but is also depressed which is aggravating the condition. Any suggestions?

Hello, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Loneliness does lead to depression. Best way is to make him move with people of his age in the locality. GERD can be controlled by certain medications like PPIs (rabiprazole) and prokinetics (mosapride). But most importantly he should walk at least about 30 minutes a day. That will help in digesting the food taken, also will help in controlling GERD. If needed a psychiatrists help may be sought. Thanks.
