Suggest Treatment For GERD, Lateral Ulcer In Stomach And Weight Loss

My 94 year old aunt is back in the hospital after just being released. She had GERD, lateral ulcer in stomach, lost weight because she cannot keep food, water, or medicine down. Has had CAT scans, scope test, blood tests, plus pain in stomach that goes from one side to the other and is intermittent. She had stomach pump for 3 days and quickly lost 2 plus quarts of brown stomach juice and felt better. Ate bland foods for 2 days and was getting better. Also was dehydrated and over 5 days had 6 bags of fluid. Doing better and eating and improving. Back to assisted living and doing fine for overnight. Ate bland food (small amounts) for breakfast and diner and then later constantly throwing up. Admitted back to emergency and then to hospital. Doctors are perplexed. Thyroid was way off a month ago and has been on medicine. Nausea medicine doesn t seem to work. No signs of gallbladder problems. Any suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the persistent of vomiting do indicate loss of gastic rugosity or resistant to PPI most likely through chronic ulcer problem.
* The only measure would be supportive intravenous care at hospital or home as per the choice of her treating physician. Share her reports of endoscopy and biopsy with her doctor to discuss further in this regard.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
