Dear Dr. Topiwala:
I have been struggling with chronic health problems since my teenage years (I am now 28) and am running out of possible conditions to get checked for. I have hypothyroidism (currently stable and treated) and have the following symptoms:
-GI issues (diagnosed as irritable bowel)
-Joint issues (but no posivitive RH test or any other related results)
-Fatigue
-Headaches
-Skin issues (dry, painful lumps especially on neck and back)
-Frequent urge to urinate (and high volume), as well as frequent dehydration
-Generalized pain (nerve endings, bones, muscles)
-Mental symptoms (common depression, don't get excited or angry, often have extreme shifts in mood)
I will be seeing a rheumatologist soon in order to rule out any autoimmune problems, but am worried that it is really an endocrinologist that I need to visit. Do you have any advice as to what I should do next? Should I ask my GP to test my other hormone levels as a precaution? Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and energy.
Sincerely,
Brady
