Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my boyfriend was just diagnosed with herpes 2, we had sex once and we used a condom. We had oral sex a few times with no condom but no outbreak. Two months ago I got a bump on the side of my vagina that was painful and blew up and is now small with white in it. It still hurts and is very small. What do you think?
HSV-2 cause by herpes simplex virus. It cause multiple bumps in cluster with severe burning pain, itching. You have single bumps: It could be due to hair follicle infection, infected sebaceous gland, vesicle. Physical examination must for diagnosis. I would suggest to consult dermatologist and undergo vaginal examination, STD screening test, test for HSV (PCR and antibody test, if needed). Following treatment will help you. Specific treatment will depend on cause.
- Anti viral drug to prevent breakout. Keep the affected area clean and dry. Apply an ice pack wrapped in a cloth. Avoid wearing tight clothing because it may irritate the blisters and ulcers. Use safe sex practice like condom, diaphragm.
Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.
Best regards, Dr. Sagar
