Hi, My name is Caroline, I have been diagnoses with Hashimoto 2 yrs ago as TSH level was 18 the only symptom was a goatre - underactive thyroide I have been taking and still taking homone suplements daily lev - 0.75. and my T3 T4 levels are normal. I saw a ayurveda doctor that told me it can be cured by panchkarma with medicine for35 days. Could you please advise if this is possible?
** 1. going by your history: chronic thyroidits is there and since there is no alternate to 'hormone' in any -pathy thus continue with thyroxine.
2. since in history, there is mentioning of 'goitre', thus look for any pressure symptoms on neck like: pressure on the esophagus [difficulty eating], trachea [shortness of breath].
3. there is increased incidence of other AI diseases like [rheumatoid arthritis, haemolytic anemia, purpura, myasthenia gravis, SLE] in such patients thus check with your attending Doctor with relevant examination and investigation.
4. Since hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune disorder [AI], and AI disorders/disease are classified as 'AMA' in Ayurveda thus treatment initiated will be Aam Pachan, Deepan & Rasayan [Immunomodulators/Immunomodulation] Chikitsa.
