Suggest Treatment For Koch S Disease In A Child
Hello doc! My 3year and 10 months old son had a chest xray APL views and these are the findings: there are nodulohazy infiltrates in the parahilar and paracardiac areas. The trachea is in the midline. The heart is not enlarged transversely. The retrosternal and and retrocardiac spaces are maintained. The bilateral hemidiaphragms are smooth. The costophrenic sulci are intact. The rest of the visualized soft and osseous structures are unremarkable. The impression is my son have a primary Koch s infection. I am very much worried about his condition. I do not know where and how did he acquire this disease. What are the cause of this disease and how to cure this doc?

The x ray results description is typical of Koch disease or pulmonary TB.It is a contagious bacterial infection that involves the lungs and is caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis.You can get TB by breathing in air droplets from a cough or sneeze of an infected person.Little children, elderly and immunocompromised are at risk of this infection.
The lesion described on the x ray may no be found in only TB.A lung infection like pneumonia may give you such though less likely.I will suggest you see a Pneumologist for evaluation and a sputum exam.
Drugs commonly used for TB treatment are however very tolerable in children and produce good results if taken as prescribed.These drugs include: Isoniazid, Rifampin, Pyrazinamide, Ethambutol and occasionally used drugs like: Amikacin, Ethionamide, Moxifloxacin, Para-aminosalicylic acid, Streptomycin.
Treatment for this condition may go on for 6 month or more.Your Pneumologist will be in the best place to choose the best molecules for your Child's condition.
