Ihave an 87 year old mother with lewy body dementia that has recently started having bowel movements out of her vagina - no surgery will be performed - will this hasten her death. She is also now experiencing trouble swallowing so has thickened water. She has been diagnosed 9 years. 7 she has been in a wheelchair. 6 being fed thank you

As per your description she is having a condition called rwctovaginal fistula. Surgery will be the treatment of choice. As a minimum procedure she needs a colostomy. Consult a general surgeon and he will direct you accordingly.
