Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have Lyme disease, and I also have a problem with biotoxins. The fat absorption by bile is supposed to take these toxins out as waste, but they are being reabsorbed by the liver and enter my blood in a neverending biotoxin cycle. As a result, my Lyme symptoms have been worse, and treatment has not been as effective as it could be. I was on Cholestyramine (I don t have a Cholesterol problem) to help absorb these toxins for elimination. Twice I ve had an intestinal blockage and no longer feel confident that I can tolerate the Cholestyramine. Is there another way to collect these toxins for release? Thank you!
As per my clinical experience, the management of Lyme depends upon the stage of disease with age of the patient. For early, localised Lyme disease: - Doxycycline (above age of 8, non pregnant women) - Amoxicillin (above 8 children )
For systemic Lyme disease: - Intravenous ceftriaxone (safest in pregnancy) - Oral cephalexin during follow up after symptoms control
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
