Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So, I m 51. White. Recovering alcoholic. Good Business . Good relationships. Etc. About 3 months ago I did a dumb thing. I started smoking meth. I know , I m still astonished at the stupidity. So the question is are there things I can do at home to soften what appears to be about 6 weeks of difficulties. The best I came up with to insure successful withdrawal is wrapped around diet , rest and exercise. Please advise. P.S. I would talk to my PCP about it but I m involved with him socially, same club and body of friends. Nobody can know about this. Thank you in advance.
I can understand your concern. As it has been only 3 months since your first use and you have already started conscious steps towards quitting the habit, you should be fine with the what you are doing: A lot of will power, diet and exercise will surely help you to stay away from the Methamphetamine.
In addition, as it is not a long term habit, you would not be severely addicted yet making it easier for you to stay away from it. Avoid all the triggers that make you crave for its use and take support of family which you have developed due to good relationships.
As an alternative to your PCP who you do not want to consult for this issue, you can consult psychiatrist who will be help you better if you think you need help for this.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
