Suggest Treatment For NuvaRing Stuck In Fallopian Tube

Hi, My mom just received confirmation that a NuvaRing, which was used 5 years ago to treat blood clotting after her hysterectomy, is now stuck in her fallopian tubes. In other words, it s been stuck inside her for 5 years. What kind of treatments/surgeries are involved in removing it, and what are the risks? Thanks.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Usually this can be removed endoscopically through hysteroscopy, without any surgery. Hysteroscopy is a very commonly done minor procedure without significant complications. Usually done on an outpatient basis but may need a short stay of 2-3 days. Your doctor will discuss you in detail.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
