Suggest Treatment For OCD

I have a daughter that suffers from OCD. She s 28 years and just moved back home so that I may help her. She was treated eight years ago in Saint Peters Florida teaching hospital for a month on out patient and did very well. Her obsessions are again out of control! I am practicing CBT with her and just put her back on Prozac. I m looking for more hands on help for her in NC. I live near southern pines, spring lake, and Fayetteville. She s not on our insurance anymore, yet has Medicare. Is there any hospital, therapists near me? We are both feeling very desperate! Thank you ! YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Treatment comprises two parts

1. medicines
2. counseling

1. Medicines:

OCD treatment is done by medicines like fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, Clomipramine, these drugs will reduce her impulse and obsession in 2 weeks. These drugs affect slowly and treatment course is around 3 months.

2. Counseling

Counseling techniques like flooding and response prevention play a major role in early relief and prevention of relapse after discontinuation of the drug. So side by side treatment is also needed.

Such techniques comprise how to control impulse. room structure to avoid such an environment.

So visit a local psychiatrist as these drugs she will get on prescription only. After taking treatment she will be fine and her life will become more confident.

She will able to take a proper decision as ocd hampers decision making and causes great discomfort to the patient as well as her whole family and friends.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
