Suggest Treatment For PCOS, Prolonged Bleeding During Periods And Extreme Fatigue
Hello Dr, I have been diagnosed with pcos since I was 18. I am now 26, and have had two pregnancy s both ending in miscarriage. I m struggling now with my period starting January 26 and it hasn t stopped other than 6 random days throughout the last 3 months. My symptoms include: Fatigue, shortness of breath, and severe pain in my lower back and abdomen. I m soaking a tampon in under an hour and having to get up all through my night to change my sheets from over bleeding. I m also clotting there about the size of a quarter. Any advice would really help. Thank you
Hi, Bleeding for so long with fatigue and shortness of breath suggest that you have anaemia. With ongoing bleeding in an anemic patient, it is considered as a semi-emergency that warrants visit to the emergency room. Your Blood haemoglobin levels have to be checked immediately and if needed you might need immediate blood transfusion especially in the light of you complaing of shortness of breath. Otherwise, stopping the menses is not a difficult issue which your OBG doctor will prescribe a regimen of Progesterone hormone and it would come down in 48 hours. But Anaemia is the main concern now and assessing its severity is the prime importance now Dr. Jeffrey
