Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m struggling with PTSD and ADHD. My ADHD is an asset as I can accomplish a lot in a short period of time. My PTSD is tough I was diagnosed 4 years ago due to traumatic events starting at the age of 4 then 13 and 18. I married a very disturbed man who basically used me as a punching bag, he tortured me. He cheated on me and then threatened to kill me several times if I divorced him. We are divorced now and I desperately need to get healthy so I can move on in life with another man. I have a very high IQ and a photographic memory. I graduated college at the top of my class and as a fellow. I m now 56 and I need help. My son told me the other day that he and his sister would cry themselves to sleep after watching their dad abuse me. I have so much guilt for not protecting them. I m crying as I m writing to you.
Hello, I am sorry that you are suffering in this way. You need to see a psychiatrist for possible medications and a counselor that specializes in PTSD. This along with a healthy diet and daily exercise such as walking for 30 minutes will give you the best chance for recovery. There are no quick fixes for PTSD. Let go of the guilt. It is not helping you and will only make your recovery take longer. Take care of yourself and do not rush into another relationship. Get healthy first. This will help you and your children. Regards
