Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just wanted to ask that I am suffering with a skin disease since 15 months. 1st biopsy was showing fungal folliculitis which was treated with antifungal and steroids. No use and the second biopsy after 6 month shows pitryasis lichimoids chronica, but it wasn t a confiirmed diagnosis. Treated with uv light still no effect. Please someone help me.
Most cases of pityriasis lichenoides (PL) tend to resolve on their own over time. However, treatment may be used to decrease the duration of the condition, especially if the rash is a nuisance.
However, these treatments may cause multiple side effects and are not always effective.
Natural sunlight and/or phototherapy treatment may be helpful.
A combination of tablets known as Psoralens with UVA (PUVA treatment) may also be helpful, but carries a higher risk of side effects. Severe forms of the disease may be managed by medications that suppress the immune response (immunosuppressants).
You clinician will guide you accordingly
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
